How it works

  1. 1

First, let's show your child three objects. Place them in front of your child and name each one clearly, like 'spoon,' 'cup,' and 'toy.' Then cover them with the blanket. Wait a few seconds, then ask, 'Where's the spoon?'

  2. 2

Now let's try two objects. Show your child a cup and a toy, then hide both under the blanket. Ask, 'Can you find the toy?'

  3. 3

Let's add a sequence. Hide the spoon, then the cup, then the toy—one after another—while your child watches. Then ask, 'What did we hide first?'

  4. 4

Now let's play a recognition game. Show your child two objects, like a sock and a block. Hide them, then bring out three objects—the two hidden plus one new one (like a scarf). Ask, 'Which ones did we just hide?'
