How it works

  1. 1

First, let's get your child interested in mouth movements. Show them how you can make funny faces in a mirror or just with your own face. Pucker your lips like you're going to give a kiss, then smile wide. See if your child watches or tries to copy you.

  2. 2

Now let's play with some water or bubbles. Put a little water in a cup or bowl. Show your child how you can blow gently across the surface to make ripples. If you have bubbles, blow some gentle bubbles. The goal is to encourage lip rounding and breath control.

  3. 3

Let's practice different mouth shapes. Make the 'ah' sound with an open mouth, then the 'ee' sound with a smile. You can use a soft spoon or your finger to gently touch your child's lips to encourage movement. Say the sounds slowly and clearly.

  4. 4

Now let's combine movements with sounds. Make popping sounds with your lips ('pop pop'), buzzing sounds ('bzzz'), and kissing sounds. Encourage your child to try any of these. Remember, any attempt is a success!
