Laundry Helper
Parent involves toddler in the simple chore of putting dirty clothes in a hamper, observing gross motor coordination, following instructions, and early responsibility. The agent coaches the parent to notice how the child carries items, follows directions, and shows pride in helping — building motor skills and self-efficacy through household participation.

What you'll need
Have a laundry hamper or basket accessible in the room where your child gets undressed (like bathroom or bedroom). Best done before bath when your child is removing clothes. Ensure floor is clear for safe walking.
How it works
- 1~30s
Start by handing your child one piece of clothing — maybe a sock or small shirt. Say, 'Let's put this in the hamper!' and point to the hamper. Watch how your child carries the item. Does they hold it securely while walking? Does they need to look down at the item or the floor while moving? Tell me what you notice about their walking and carrying.
Watch for: Toddler walks while carrying an item, maintaining balance and coordination.
- 2~35s
Now let's see if your child can follow a simple request. Point to the hamper and say, 'Put the clothes in here, please!' You might need to gesture or tap the hamper. Does your child understand where to place the item? Does they need repeated instructions or physical guidance? Watch for that moment of comprehension — when they realizes what you're asking.
Watch for: Toddler follows a one-step verbal direction related to the activity.
- 3~30s
For our last round, let's focus on the social-emotional piece. After your child puts an item in the hamper, give specific praise: 'Thank you for helping! You're such a good helper!' Watch their reaction. Does your child smile, clap, or show pride? Does they seem motivated to do it again or seek more items? This is about building that 'I can help' feeling.
Watch for: Toddler participates in a simple household chore and shows enjoyment or pride in helping.
