What you'll need

Baby's bath prepared with usual temperature and depth. Bath area should be safe and comfortable. Parent should be ready to observe baby's reactions throughout the bath. Best done during morning hours.

How it works

  1. 1~30s

As you begin the bath, notice your child's initial reaction. Does they seem alert and interested when you place them in the water? Look for signs like bright eyes, reaching for toys or water, or making happy sounds. Some babies are most engaged right after waking, while others need time to fully wake up. What do you see in those first moments?

Watch for: Baby shows positive engagement and alertness during morning bath routine.

  2. 2~40s

Now watch your child's energy level as the bath continues. Does they maintain that alert engagement, or does their energy dip? Notice if they becomes more active - splashing, reaching, babbling - or if they starts to get quiet and still. The goal is to find when your child has the longest sustained alert period. What pattern do you notice?

Watch for: Baby shows sustained alertness and appropriate energy level during morning activity.

  3. 3~30s

As you finish the bath, notice your child's overall mood. Does they seem to have enjoyed this as a special time with you? Look for smiles, eye contact, relaxed body language, or resistance to ending the bath. The best bath timing isn't just about alertness - it's also when it feels most like joyful bonding time. What's your child telling you?

Watch for: Baby shows enjoyment and positive association with daily routine activities.
