Where Is Baby?
Parent plays a diaper-change variation of peekaboo by gently lifting baby's legs to cover their own face, then revealing with 'There you are!' The agent coaches the parent to observe anticipation, object permanence understanding, and social bonding during this playful interaction.

What you'll need
Baby lying on back after diaper change, legs facing parent. Baby should be calm and alert. No materials needed beyond changing supplies already used.
How it works
- 1~25s
Gently lift your child's legs up so they cover your face — like a little curtain. In a playful, wondering voice ask, 'Where is baby?' Hold it for just a second, then lower their legs and say with a big smile, 'There you are!' Watch your child's face closely. Does they smile, giggle, or show excitement when you reappear? Tell me what you see.
Watch for: Baby shows anticipation and delight when parent reappears after being hidden.
- 2~35s
Let's play a few more times with a consistent rhythm. Lift the legs, ask 'Where is baby?' pause briefly, then reveal with 'There you are!' After a couple repetitions, try pausing a bit longer before revealing. Watch your child's reaction during the pause. Does they seem to expect you to reappear? Does they look toward where your face was or make a sound as if asking for the reveal?
Watch for: Baby shows understanding that parent still exists when hidden behind legs, expecting the reveal.
- 3~30s
Now let's see if your child wants to take a turn. After you play a few times, pause and see if they initiates anything. Does your child lift their own legs, reach for your face, or make a sound to ask for more? Notice the eye contact and shared smiles — does this feel like a connected, back-and-forth interaction? Tell me about your bonding moment.
Watch for: Baby shows enjoyment of social interaction and may initiate continuation of the game.
