Potty Time Storybooks
Parent introduces special potty-themed books that child can look at while sitting on the toilet, creating a positive association with bathroom time. The agent coaches the parent to observe engagement with the books, willingness to sit on the potty, and emerging understanding of bathroom routines — supporting the transition from diapers while fostering early literacy.

What you'll need
Have 2-3 children's books available, ideally including at least one about potty training or bathroom routines. Child should be in a calm, alert mood. Potty or toilet should be accessible but not required for initial book exploration.
How it works
- 1~30s
Let's start by showing your child the books you've gathered. Hold them up one by one and say something like, 'Look, your child! We have special books about going potty!' Watch their reaction. Does your child show interest — maybe reaching for a book, pointing, or looking closely at the pictures? Which book seems to catch their attention most?
Watch for: Child shows curiosity or positive engagement with potty-related materials or topics.
- 2~40s
Now let's bring the book to the bathroom. If your child is willing, invite them to sit on the potty (with clothes on is fine) and look at the book together. You don't need to expect any actual use — just focus on making it a comfortable, positive experience. Does your child sit willingly, even briefly? Does they look at the book while sitting there? Tell me how it goes.
Watch for: Child participates willingly in a new routine activity (sitting on potty with book).
- 3~35s
Let's focus on the book interaction itself now. Open to a page showing a character using the potty or washing hands. Point and say, 'Look, your child is going potty too!' Watch their reaction. Does your child point to pictures, turn pages, or make any sounds related to the story? Does they seem to understand the connection between the book and their own routine?
Watch for: Child engages with a book during routine activity — pointing, turning pages, or vocalizing about pictures.
