    Alright, let's get started! The purpose of this activity is to identify and express emotions. Therefore, we'll be exercising the social and emotional developmental area, more specifically emotional intelligence. To complete this activity, you will need a story. you, watch your child closely — I'd love to hear what you notice about how they responds.

    Watch for: Child name a character's feelings in a story using pictures, like pointing to the happy character.

    Great, now let's try the next part. Begin by reading a Halloween story to your toddler, making special emphasis on the character's feelings. Look for illustrations in the story that depict various emotions and talk about these with your toddler. Show him how these emotions look in the picture so he can begin to identify them. Tell me what your child does — any reaction counts!

    Watch for: Child recogniz and tells others about their basic feelings, like being happy, mad, sad, or scared.

    One more thing to try. As you finish the story, ask him about the characters and see if he can relate any of these characters with the emotions.
