The Eye Doctor II
To encourage your child to experience different perspectives through role-playing as eye doctor and patient.
Opens a guided voice session in TogetherTime.
How it works
- 1
First, let's explain the game to your child. Show them how we made the head mirror and eye chart. Then demonstrate being the doctor first - put on your mirror, point to letters on the chart, and ask your child to read them. Remember to really get into character!
- 2
Now it's your child's turn to be the patient. Give them the spoon to cover one eye. Ask them to read letters from the chart. Use encouraging doctor talk like 'Let me check your vision' and 'Can you read the next line?'
- 3
Now switch roles! Let your child be the doctor. Encourage them to put on the head mirror and check your eyes. Prompt them to ask you questions about your day or how you're feeling, just like a real doctor might.
- 4
After playing both roles, help your child reflect. Ask questions like 'How was being the doctor different from being the patient?' or 'What did you notice about seeing things from the other side?' Connect this to real-life perspective-taking.
