Let's Draw Friends and Family
Complete this activity with your child and one of their friends. Tell them you'll be drawing pictures of friends or family members. Set the example, grab paper and crayons and show them how to draw a person. Review body parts, color together, and use yarn for hair while practicing sharing and turn-taking.

How it works
- 1
Let's start by modeling how to draw a person. Show your child and their friend how you draw a face with a circle, then add arms and legs. As you demonstrate, review the body parts together.
- 2
Now ask your child who they wants to draw. Encourage them to try drawing that person independently. Watch how your child approaches drawing body parts without direct copying.
- 3
Now bring out the yarn and scissors. Show how to cut small strips for hair. Encourage taking turns with the scissors and sharing materials. Observe how your child manages the scissors and interacts with their friend.
- 4
Now color the pictures together and glue on the yarn hair. Create a 'Friends and Family' display by pasting all pictures on cardstock. Observe how your child completes the artwork and collaborates.
