How it works

  1. 1

First, let's help your child make small playdough balls and place them in the cupcake tray compartments. This builds the finger strength for using utensils.

  2. 2

Now, let's unscrew the jar lid and use thumb and index finger to move balls from tray to jar and back. This pincer grasp is key for holding forks.

  3. 3

Next, give your child the plastic fork. Ask them to pick up balls with the fork and place them in the jar. This mimics self-feeding motions.

  4. 4

Finally, let's screw the jar lid back on and talk about what we did. Ask your child questions like 'What are we doing?' or 'Where did you put the playdough?'
