How it works

  1. 1

Let's start by reading together. Ask your child to help you turn the pages. As you read, pause and ask, 'What do you think happens next?'

  2. 2

Now that you've finished reading, show your child the character printouts. Ask, 'Can you find the boy?' or 'Where's the girl?'

  3. 3

Now let's practice some B words from the story. Point to the boy and ask, 'Can you say boy?' Then find something else that starts with B, like a bird or ball.

  4. 4

Let's talk about what the characters are doing. Ask, 'What is the boy doing?' or 'What is the bird doing?' See if your child can combine words like 'boy run' or 'bird fly'.
