Story Characters I

Sit with {child_name} in a comfortable spot to read a favorite story. Use printouts of characters, cardstock paper, and crayons. After reading, ask {child_name} to identify and paste characters, then practice words starting with 'B' and describe what characters are doing.

How it works

  1. 1

Great reading! Now let's play with the character printouts. {Parent_name}, hold up the boy character and ask, 'Can you grab the boy?' Let's see if your child can pick the right one.

  2. 2

Now let's practice some fun 'B' words from the story. {Parent_name}, point to the bird in the story or on the printout and ask, 'Can you say bird?'

  3. 3

Let's talk about what the characters are doing. {Parent_name}, point to the bird and ask, 'What is the bird doing?' See if your child can answer with words like 'bird fly'.
