How it works

  1. 1

First, let's draw some shapes together. Take out the colored paper and crayons. Draw circles, triangles, and squares in different sizes. As you draw, ask your child what shapes you're making.

  2. 2

Now let's try cutting! Help your child hold the scissors safely. Show them how to cut out the shapes you've drawn. Notice how your child handles the scissors and follows the lines.

  3. 3

Time to create our collage! Let your child choose where to paste each shape on the cardstock. As they picks up each shape, ask them to name it and describe its color.

  4. 4

Let's celebrate your child's artwork! Ask them to tell you about the finished collage. Which shape is their favorite? What colors did they use most?
