How it works

  1. 1

First, let's show your child how to make the 'T' sound. Say 'T' clearly, blocking the airflow with your tongue behind your top teeth, then releasing it. Then, invite your child to try it in front of the mirror.

  2. 2

Now let's pretend to ride a train! Say 'Train' emphasizing the 'T' sound. Ask your child to grab two stuffed animals to bring on our train ride.

  3. 3

Let's get in line like a train! Have your child hand you one stuffed animal, then stand behind you. Start walking around the room, making 'choo-choo' sounds and saying 'train' with the 'T' sound.

  4. 4

As you continue the train ride, ask your child where they wants to go. Encourage them to say the destination with as many 'T' sounds as possible, like 'to the town' or 'to the toys'.
