Magicians III

To complete this activity, tell your little one that you'll be pretending to be magicians. For your magic trick, you'll make objects appear after hearing their sounds. Have your toddler face away from you, so she can't see the objects you select. Begin with one of her favorite toys. Cover it up with a blanket and play its sound. Have your toddler turn around and guess what is under the blanket. Once she guesses, uncover the object making it appear! Then, invite your little one to describe the object.

How it works

  1. 1

Great! Now play the sound of the hidden toy. Ask your child: 'What do you hear? Can you guess what's hiding under our magic blanket?'

  2. 2

Wonderful! Now uncover the toy and say: 'Ta-da! You guessed right! Now can you tell me about this {object_name}? What color is it? What does it do?'

  3. 3

Now let's try another one! Hide a different object. Play its sound and ask: 'Ooh, a new sound! What's hiding now? Listen carefully...'

  4. 4

Perfect! After uncovering, ask: 'Can you tell me about this one? How is it different from the first toy?'
