C is for Comet
We'll talk about comets, make a foil-and-paper comet craft, and practice saying 'comet' with emphasis on the /k/ sound.
Opens a guided voice session in TogetherTime.
How it works
- 1
First, let's introduce the idea. Say to your child, 'Did you know there are bright, shiny things in space called comets? They're like big icy snowballs with long, sparkly tails!' Then ask, 'Can you say comet?'
- 2
Now, let's start our craft. Hand your child the aluminum foil and say, 'Let's make the comet's icy head. Can you scrunch the foil into a ball?' After they makes the ball, say, 'Now let's glue it on the paper. This is our comet!'
- 3
As you both add the tissue paper tail, say, 'Comets have beautiful, colorful tails. Let's stick these strips on to make our comet's tail.' Then prompt, 'Can you say 'comet' again while we glue?'
- 4
Once the craft is done, hold it up and say, 'Look at our amazing comet! It's flying through space.' Ask, 'What sound does 'comet' start with? Can you make that /k/ sound?'
