How it works

  1. 1

Let's start by choosing a melody. What's a simple tune your child loves? Maybe 'Twinkle Twinkle' or 'The Wheels on the Bus'? We'll use that melody and change the words to be about your child.

  2. 2

Now let's create the first line about your child's name. Sing to your chosen tune: '[Child's name] is my special friend.' Encourage your child to sing along or fill in their name.

  3. 3

Let's add a line about body parts. Sing: 'These are my hands, and these are my feet.' Point to each part. See if your child can point along or say 'my hands' or 'my feet.'

  4. 4

Now let's include something your child loves. Sing: 'I love my [toy/food/animal].' Pause to let your child fill in the blank. Encourage using 'my' or 'mine.'
