How it works

  1. 1

First, let's introduce the idea. Say to your child: 'We're going to be news reporters today! Reporters tell people about things that happen. They might say 'Today, we played at the park' or 'The dog chased a ball.' Ready to try?'

  2. 2

Now, let your child give their first report. Prompt them: 'Okay, Reporter your child, tell us the news! What happened today?' Listen carefully to their speech.

  3. 3

Now it's your turn to model. Say to your child: 'Now I'll give my report! Today, we read a book together.' Then ask a follow-up question: 'What was your favorite part of today?'

  4. 4

Let's practice plural words. Say: 'Reporters sometimes talk about more than one thing. If you saw two cats, you'd say 'cats.' Can you report about something you saw more than one of today?'
