How it works

  1. 1

Let's start by reading a rhyming storybook together. As we read, I'll pause and ask your child to point out words that rhyme. For example, if we read 'cat' and 'hat', those rhyme because they end with the same sound. Let's begin reading!

  2. 2

Now let's have your child choose one of the rhyming words we found and make up a short story about it. It could be silly or serious—whatever they likes!

  3. 3

For an extra challenge, let's try to make the story rhyme! I'll go first to show you how. If your child's word was 'cat', I might say: 'The cat in a hat sat on a mat.' Then it's their turn!
