Behind the story III
Find a cozy place to cuddle up and read with your little one. Let {child_name} choose what story you'll read and then begin reading it out loud. While reading, take time to ask simple questions about the story. Put {his_her} grammar skills to the test by specifically asking {child_name} to name something that {he_she} would have to convert to plural form. For example, if there's an illustration with a lot of dogs, ask 'What are these?'. For a challenge, think of words that rhyme with what you are reading.

How it works
- 1
As you start reading, pause after a page with a clear illustration. Point to something in the picture and ask your child a simple question about what's happening, like 'What is the dog doing?' or 'Where is the cat going?'
- 2
Now find an illustration with multiple objects or animals, like several balls, cats, or flowers. Point and ask your child, 'What are these?' to encourage using a plural word.
- 3
Pick a simple, familiar word from the story, like 'cat' or 'sun'. Ask your child, 'Can you think of a word that sounds like 'cat'? Maybe a word that rhymes?'
