Rubber Band Fun! III
To begin this activity, place the can or the pool noodle in front of your child, along with 15 rubber bands. Explain that you are going to try and get as many rubber bands onto the can or noodle as possible by placing them by colors. For example all the red ones first, then the yellow ones, then the blue rubber bands. When your youngster is finished, ask her to grab the can or the pool noodle with one hand, and place it upside-down on the table. Then ask your child to take the rubber bands off.

How it works
- 1
Let's begin by showing your child how to stretch a rubber band and place it on the can or noodle. First, demonstrate putting on a red rubber band, then hand one to your child. Say, 'Your turn! Can you put the red rubber band on like I did?'
- 2
Now let's sort by colors! Say, 'Let's find all the red rubber bands first. Can you help me put on all the red ones?' Encourage your child to continue placing rubber bands, focusing on one color at a time.
- 3
Now for the one-handed challenge! Say, 'Great job with all the colors! Now can you pick up the can/noodle with just one hand? Use your strong hand to grip it and turn it upside down on the table.'
- 4
Time for the cup connection! Say, 'Now let's practice that strong grip with a cup. Here's some water. Can you hold this cup with one hand like you held the can? Take a drink when you're ready.'
