How it works

  1. 1

First, let's prepare the egg carton. Show your child how to poke two small holes in each section of the egg carton bottom. You can do this part while they watches safely.

  2. 2

Now let's match colors! Give your child the buttons and pipe cleaners. Ask them to match each pipe cleaner color to a button of the same color and name the colors together.

  3. 3

Time to thread the buttons! Show your child how to thread a pipe cleaner through a hole in the egg carton, through the button, and back down through the other hole. Then let them try one.

  4. 4

Now let's practice buttoning! Give your child the ribbon with slits. Show how to button it starting from the top. Then try giving a simple instruction like, 'Button the green square on the blue button.'
