How it works

  1. 1

Let's begin with the first ribbon that has 5 beads. Show your child how to hold the end of the ribbon with one hand and use thumb and index finger to slide a bead up. Then invite them to try.

  2. 2

Now let's try the second ribbon with 10 beads. Encourage your child to slide several beads up or down, one by one. You can ask: 'Can you make this bead go up? Now can you make the next one go down?'

  3. 3

Let's talk about the ribbons. Ask your child: 'Are the beads all up or down? Which ribbon has more beads? Can you count them?' This helps build observation and comparison skills.
