Is It the Same or Different?
Parent shows child photos of themselves in different clothing/contexts and discusses how preferences and interests change over time. The agent coaches the parent to observe the child's self-awareness, personal information sharing, and understanding of identity development — building social-emotional skills through reflective conversation.

What you'll need
Parent and child sitting comfortably together at a table or on the floor. 4-5 photos of child in different clothing/contexts spread out within view. Calm environment with minimal distractions.
How it works
- 1~25s
Start by showing your child the first photo — maybe one where they's wearing something distinctive like a swimsuit or winter coat. Say something like, 'Look, here you are at the beach!' or 'This is you in the snow!' Watch your child's face closely. Does they recognize themself? Does they smile or point? Tell me what you notice in their initial reaction.
Watch for: Child recognizes self in photos and shares personal information about the context or experience.
- 2~35s
Now place two photos side by side — maybe one in summer clothes and one in winter clothes. Point to each and say, 'This is you here, and this is you here too — same your child but different clothes!' Ask your child: 'Are you still your child in both pictures?' Watch how they responds. Does they understand their identity remains constant despite different appearances? Does they mention gender or age?
Watch for: Child demonstrates understanding of consistent identity across different contexts, including gender recognition.
- 3~40s
Now let's explore preferences. Point to a photo and ask, 'Did you like wearing this?' or 'What was your favorite part of this day?' Then switch to a different photo and ask about interests — 'What were you interested in here?' Watch how your child transitions between these reflective questions. Does they smoothly shift focus? Does they articulate different preferences for different contexts?
Watch for: Child switches attention smoothly between different photos and reflective questions about preferences/interests.
