Cartoon People Drawing

Parent guides child through drawing simple human figures, focusing on body parts and shapes. The agent coaches the parent to observe fine motor control, shape copying, and representational drawing skills — building foundational writing and artistic abilities through collaborative art.

What you'll need

Parent and child seated together at a table or on the floor with drawing space. Paper and crayons/markers available. Child should be alert and interested in drawing activities.

How it works

  1. 1~45s

Let's start by drawing a simple person together. You draw first — make a circle for the head, then add a body. As you draw each part, name it clearly: 'Here's the head... here's the body...' Then ask your child to point to that same part on their own body. Watch how your child follows along — does they point correctly? Does they seem to understand the connection between your drawing and their body?

Watch for: Child shows understanding of body parts by correctly pointing to corresponding parts on own body when parent draws them.

  2. 2~60s

Now let's focus on the head — that circle shape. Draw a clear circle on your paper and say 'This is the head — it's a circle.' Then give your child a crayon and ask them to copy your circle. Watch their hand movements closely — does your child attempt a circular motion? Does the result look anything like a circle, even if it's wobbly or incomplete?

Watch for: Child attempts to copy a circle shape when shown an example, using circular hand motions.

  3. 3~75s

Now let's try something different. Start drawing another person, but this time, draw just one arm, then stop. Ask your child to complete the drawing by adding the other arm. Watch how your child approaches this — does they look at your arm and try to match it? Does they draw from memory or imagination? Notice if your child draws any other body parts without being asked.

Watch for: Child adds body parts to a drawing from memory or imagination without direct copying.
