Fruit Basket Creation
Parent and child create a fruit basket collage together, drawing circles for fruit, cutting them out, and gluing them onto a basket shape. The agent coaches the parent to observe fine motor control in circle drawing, cutting with scissors, and gluing precision — building foundational writing and coloring skills through creative play.

What you'll need
Table or flat surface with paper, markers, child-safe scissors, and glue/tape available. Green playdough optional. Parent and child seated comfortably together.
How it works
- 1~45s
Let's start with the fruit! Give your child the red and orange paper and a marker. Ask them to draw circles on the paper — these will be our apples and oranges. Don't show an example circle — just say 'Can you draw some round fruit shapes?' Watch how your child approaches this. Does they make circular motions naturally? Are the shapes actually round, or more like ovals or scribbles? Tell me what you notice about their circle drawing.
Watch for: Child draws recognizable circles without a visual example, using continuous circular motion.
- 2~60s
Now let's cut out those fruit circles. Give your child the child-safe scissors and show them how to hold them properly. Ask them to cut out one of the circles they drew. Watch closely — does your child hold the scissors with thumb in the small hole? Can they open and close the blades smoothly? How much of the cutting can they do independently versus needing help?
Watch for: Child uses scissors to cut along a drawn line with some accuracy, demonstrating hand strength and coordination.
- 3~50s
Time to assemble our basket! Draw a simple basket shape on the white paper and cut it out yourself. Now give your child the glue stick or tape and ask them to attach the fruit circles onto the basket. Watch how your child applies the adhesive — does they put glue just on the back of the circles or everywhere? Can they position the fruit where they wants it? Notice the precision and planning in this gluing step.
Watch for: Child applies adhesive with some precision and places items intentionally on the paper.
