Fruit Basket Creation

Parent and child create a fruit basket collage together, drawing circles for fruit, cutting them out, and gluing them onto a basket shape. The agent coaches the parent to observe fine motor control in circle drawing, scissor use, and gluing precision — building foundational skills for writing and artistic expression.

What you'll need

Table or flat surface with white, red, and orange paper. Markers, child-safe scissors, and glue or tape within reach. Parent and child seated comfortably side-by-side.

How it works

  1. 1~60s

Let's start with the fruit! Give your child the red and orange paper and a marker. Ask them to draw circles for apples and oranges — you can say 'Can you draw round fruit shapes?' Watch how your child approaches this. Does they make continuous circular motions? How close do the shapes come to being actual circles? Tell me what you notice about their drawing technique.

Watch for: Child draws circular shapes without a visual example, using continuous rotational hand movements.

  2. 2~90s

Now let's cut out the fruit shapes. Help your child hold the scissors safely — thumb in the small hole, fingers in the large one. Watch as they tries to cut out the circles they drew. Notice how your child maneuvers the paper and scissors. Does they turn the paper to follow curves? How much assistance does they need? Tell me about their cutting technique.

Watch for: Child uses scissors to cut along drawn lines, showing hand-eye coordination and bilateral coordination.

  3. 3~60s

Time to assemble our basket! Draw a simple basket shape on the white paper and cut it out. Now give your child the glue and the fruit circles. Ask them to glue the fruit onto the basket. Watch where your child places the glue — is it a big glob or controlled dots? Does they place the fruit intentionally on the basket? Notice how your child manages this sticky task.

Watch for: Child applies glue with control and places items intentionally on a target area.
