Word Kick Challenge

Parent sets up a simple soccer game where {child_name} kicks a ball toward labeled cones while practicing word pronunciation. The agent coaches the parent to observe kicking coordination, balance during bending, and integration of language with physical action — building gross motor skills and vocabulary through playful movement.

What you'll need

Clear space for kicking (outdoor yard, park, or clear indoor area). Need: soft ball, 3-5 cones/cups, paper/flashcards with words (frog, fish, fan, feet, fork), marker. Set cones in a line with flashcards attached, ball nearby.

How it works

  1. 1~30s

Let's start with the first part. Place the ball a few feet away from your child. Say one of the words clearly — like 'frog' — and ask your child to bend down, pick up the ball, and carry it to the matching cone. Watch closely as they bends. Does your child keep their balance while bending forward? Does they use their legs and core, or does they wobble or need to put a hand down? Tell me what you notice about their bending movement.

Watch for: Child bends forward from standing position to pick up ball while maintaining balance without falling or needing hand support.

  2. 2~35s

Now for the kicking! Have your child place the ball in front of the 'frog' cone. Step back a few feet and say, 'Kick the ball to the frog!' Watch their kicking technique. Does your child aim toward the cone intentionally? Does they use their foot with some force and follow-through, or is it more of a random tap? Notice if they looks at the target before kicking.

Watch for: Child kicks ball with intentional direction toward a specific target (the cone), showing coordinated leg movement and aim.

  3. 3~40s

Let's mix it up! Say a different word — like 'fish' — and ask your child to repeat the word, then find the right cone, bend to place the ball, and kick. Watch how they integrates listening, speaking, and moving. Does your child remember the word while doing the actions? Does they say it clearly or get distracted by the physical task? We're looking for that connection between language and movement.

Watch for: Child successfully combines verbal repetition of a word with coordinated physical actions (finding cone, bending, placing, kicking) in sequence.
