Word Kick Soccer
Parent sets up a simple soccer game where child kicks a ball toward labeled cones, practicing both gross motor kicking skills and word pronunciation. The agent coaches the parent to observe directional kicking accuracy, interaction with a stationary ball, and emerging language integration during physical play.

What you'll need
Open space safe for kicking (backyard, park, or clear indoor area). Need: soft ball, 3 cones/cups, paper/flashcards, marker. Write simple words on papers: 'dog', 'cat', 'sun'. Attach each word to a cone. Line cones about 3-4 feet away from starting spot. Place ball in front of starting line.
How it works
- 1~30s
Let's start simple. Show your child the ball and say 'Let's kick the ball toward the cones!' Don't worry about which cone yet — just encourage them to give it a good kick from a standing position. Watch how your child approaches this. Does they step forward with one foot? Does they make contact with the ball, even if it doesn't go far? Tell me what you notice about their kicking form.
Watch for: Child successfully makes contact with a stationary ball using a kicking motion, showing basic limb coordination.
- 2~45s
Now let's add the word game. Point to the first cone with the word 'dog' and say 'Kick the ball to the dog!' Give your child a few tries. Watch closely — does your child adjust their body or aim to kick toward that specific cone? Even if they misses, do you see them trying to orient toward the target? This shows developing directional awareness.
Watch for: Child attempts to kick ball toward a specific target, showing emerging directional control and aiming.
- 3~50s
Let's play a full round. Each time your child kicks (whether they hits a cone or not), point to a cone and say its word clearly: 'dog', 'cat', or 'sun'. After a few kicks, pause and ask 'your child, which word should we kick to next?' Watch for any response — they might point, say the word, or even just look at a particular cone. We're looking for signs your child is connecting the physical game with the language component.
Watch for: Child shows awareness of word labels during physical play — may repeat words, point to named cones, or show preference for certain labels.
