Flower Hunt Run

Parent and child run together outdoors to find and collect colorful foam flowers, practicing running skills with control. The agent coaches the parent to observe running form, coordination, and movement control — building gross motor skills through playful physical activity.

What you'll need

Outdoor space with trees, plants, or grass where flowers can be hidden. Craft foam, marker, scissors, and clothespins prepared. Flowers should be cut out with numbers written on them and clothespins attached for easy collection. Ensure safe running path free of major obstacles.

How it works

  1. 1~30s

Let's start with the first hunt! Point out a flower nearby and encourage your child to run and get it. As they runs, watch their arm movements closely. At this age, we want to see bent elbows and arms moving opposite to legs — like a natural running rhythm. Does your child's running look coordinated with that opposite arm-leg movement? Tell me what you notice about their form.

Watch for: Child runs with bent elbows and arms moving in opposition to legs, showing coordinated running form.

  2. 2~40s

Now let's make it more challenging. Point to a flower that requires your child to run around a tree or bush to reach it. Watch how they controls their movements — can your child start quickly, turn smoothly around the obstacle, and stop precisely at the flower? We're looking for that ability to control running movements like starting, stopping, and turning. What do you observe?

Watch for: Child demonstrates control over running movements including starting, stopping, turning, and navigating obstacles.

  3. 3~45s

For our final challenge, create a sequence: have your child run quickly to pick up a flower, then immediately turn and run back to you without falling. Watch the whole sequence — does your child maintain speed while picking up the flower? Can they execute that quick turn and return run smoothly? This combines speed, coordination, and balance. Describe what you see.

Watch for: Child runs quickly, picks up an object, turns, and runs back without losing balance or falling.
