Find the Balls Run

Parent hides balls around a room for child to find while running. The agent coaches the parent to observe running coordination, arm-leg opposition, and ball-kicking accuracy — building gross motor skills, coordination, and spatial awareness through active play.

What you'll need

Clear, safe indoor or outdoor space for running. 4-6 soft balls or sock balls. A basket or container for collecting. Child should wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for running.

How it works

  1. 1~45s

First, have your child cover their eyes or turn around while you hide the balls around the room. Spread them out so they will need to run between them. When you're ready, tell your child to run and find all the balls! As they runs to the first ball, watch their arm and leg movements. Do their arms swing opposite to their legs — right arm forward when left leg steps, and vice versa? Tell me what you notice about their running coordination.

Watch for: Child demonstrates coordinated running with arms swinging opposite to legs (contralateral movement).

  2. 2~50s

Now place the basket in the center of the room. Tell your child to run to each ball, pick it up, and run back to drop it in the basket. Watch how they manages stopping, bending, and starting again. Does they slow down before reaching the ball, or does they have to stop abruptly? Can they maintain running control while carrying a ball? Notice their ability to adjust speed and direction.

Watch for: Child demonstrates controlled running with ability to stop, start, and change direction purposefully.

  3. 3~40s

For our final challenge, place the basket on its side to create a goal. Have your child stand a few feet away and kick each ball toward the basket. Watch their kicking technique — does they aim with purpose? Does they follow through toward the target? Notice if they adjusts their approach after a miss. We're looking for intentional, directional kicking.

Watch for: Child kicks ball with intentional direction toward a target, showing aim and follow-through.
