Overhead Bowling Challenge
Parent sets up a simple bowling game where child throws a ball over their head to knock down pins. The agent coaches the parent to observe whole-arm coordination, balance during throwing motion, and stepping patterns — building gross motor skills through playful target practice.

What you'll need
Open space for throwing. 3-5 lightweight pins or water bottles set up as targets. Soft ball appropriate for child's hand size. Clear throwing path with no obstacles.
How it works
- 1~45s
Start by showing your child how to hold the ball with both hands and bring it back over their head. Encourage them to throw it forward toward the pins. Watch the throwing motion closely — does your child use both arms together in a coordinated way? Does they bring the ball back behind their head before releasing it forward? Tell me what you notice about their throwing technique.
Watch for: Child throws ball over head using both hands in coordinated motion, with backward wind-up and forward release.
- 2~40s
Now watch your child's balance as they throws. When they brings the ball back over their head and leans forward to release it, does they maintain balance? Or does they stumble or need to step forward to catch {himself_herself}? Notice if your child bends at the waist while keeping their feet planted — that's great core strength and balance development.
Watch for: Child maintains balance while bending forward during throwing motion, showing core stability.
- 3~50s
Let's do a few more throws. This time, if your child needs to step forward after throwing, watch the stepping pattern. Does they take regular steps or rise up onto tiptoes? Some children naturally go up on their toes when they're reaching or throwing with effort. See if you notice any tiptoe stepping as your child moves toward the pins or follows through on the throw.
Watch for: Child uses tiptoe steps during throwing sequence or when approaching pins, showing calf strength and balance variation.
