My Kicks I
Parent sets up a simple soccer game with a ball and net, encouraging their toddler to practice kicking. The agent coaches the parent to observe leg strength, coordination with moving objects, and directional kicking — building foundational gross motor skills through playful physical activity.

What you'll need
Open space safe for kicking. Soft ball (soccer ball, foam ball, or lightweight ball). A goal target (laundry basket, box, or two markers placed apart). Parent and child standing a few feet apart.
How it works
- 1~30s
Let's start simple. Place the ball right in front of your child's feet. Crouch down to their level and say, 'Show me your big kick!' Watch how your child approaches this. Does they step forward with one foot and swing the other leg? Does they make solid contact with the ball? Tell me what you notice about their kicking form.
Watch for: Child coordinates leg movement to make contact with a stationary ball, showing basic kicking mechanics.
- 2~40s
Now let's make it more dynamic. Roll the ball gently toward your child. Say 'Get ready — here it comes!' Watch closely as the ball approaches. Does your child time their kick to meet the moving ball? Does they adjust their stance or wait for the right moment? This is more challenging than kicking a stationary ball.
Watch for: Child successfully kicks a ball that is rolling toward them, showing ability to coordinate with a moving object.
- 3~45s
Now let's add a target. Point to your goal — the basket or box — and say 'Let's score! Kick it here!' Roll the ball to your child again, but this time encourage them to kick it toward the goal. Watch their body alignment. Does your child adjust their stance to aim? Does the ball go generally toward the target, even if it doesn't go in?
Watch for: Child attempts to kick ball toward a specific target or direction, showing early aiming ability.
