Shape Bus Drawing
Parent guides child in drawing and cutting out a bus shape with squares and circles, then coloring it together. The agent coaches the parent to observe fine motor control in shape drawing, scissor use, and coloring within lines — building pre-writing skills and shape recognition through creative play.

What you'll need
Child seated at table with cardstock paper, crayons, and child-safe scissors. Workspace should be clear and well-lit. Parent positioned to observe and assist as needed.
How it works
- 1~45s
Start by telling your child we're going to make a bus out of shapes. Ask them to draw a big square for the bus body — no need to show an example first. Watch how your child approaches this. Does they start with four straight lines? Does they attempt to make right angles? Notice the pencil grip and control as they works on this first square.
Watch for: Child draws a recognizable square shape without a visual example, using straight lines and approximate right angles.
- 2~50s
Now ask your child to draw four circles for the bus wheels — again, without showing an example. Watch closely as they draws. Does your child use a continuous circular motion? Does they close the circles completely? Notice if they spaces them somewhat evenly along the bottom of the bus square or clusters them together.
Watch for: Child draws recognizable circle shapes without a visual example, using continuous curved motions.
- 3~60s
Now for the fun part — coloring and cutting! First, color the bus together. Notice how your child handles the crayon. Does they color mostly within the lines of the shapes? Does they use consistent strokes? Then, if you feel comfortable, let your child try cutting out the bus shape with safety scissors. Watch their scissor grip and cutting control along the straight lines.
Watch for: Child colors shapes with some attention to boundaries, showing developing control and spatial awareness.
