Color Ball Rolling
Parent guides child in rolling play dough balls between their hands, observing fine motor coordination and hand strength. The agent coaches the parent to notice bilateral hand coordination, finger dexterity, and color recognition — building foundational skills for later writing and tool use.

What you'll need
Parent and child sitting together at a table or on floor with play surface. Three colors of play dough available (blue, yellow, red). Space should allow for hand movements without restrictions.
How it works
- 1~45s
Start by showing your child the three play dough colors. Ask them to name the colors and tell you which one they likes best. Then take that favorite color and demonstrate rolling it into a ball between your palms. Use both hands together in a circular motion. Now invite your child to try with their own piece. Watch how they coordinates their hands — does they use both palms together? Does they apply even pressure? Tell me what you notice.
Watch for: Child rolls play dough into spherical balls using coordinated bilateral hand movements.
- 2~50s
Now let's make it more challenging. Give your child two different colored pieces and ask them to make a two-color ball. your child will need to combine them first, then roll. Watch how they manages this more complex task — does they successfully blend the colors? Does they maintain the rolling motion with the combined piece? Notice if their hand coordination looks similar to when stacking blocks — that same controlled pressure and precision.
Watch for: Child shows controlled hand pressure and precision similar to block stacking when rolling combined play dough balls.
- 3~40s
For our final observation, ask your child to make three small balls — one of each color. Watch their finger positioning as they works with these smaller pieces. Does they use a precise pincer grip or whole-hand squeeze? Notice if their hand coordination resembles how they opens containers — that same combination of strength and dexterity in the fingers and palms.
Watch for: Child demonstrates finger strength and dexterity similar to container opening when manipulating small play dough pieces.
