Toy Trail Cleanup
Parent creates a trail of toys leading to a box, encouraging child to squat, pick up toys, and walk or run while carrying them to the box. The agent coaches the parent to observe emerging running speed, squatting coordination, and walking while holding objects — building gross motor control, balance, and coordination.

What you'll need
Open floor space clear of obstacles. Small toys (4-6 items) that are easy for child to grasp. Box or basket placed at one end of the room. Toys scattered in a trail leading to the box, with space between them for walking.
How it works
- 1~30s
Let's start with the first toy! Point to a toy and ask your child to help you pick it up. Watch closely as they approaches it — does your child squat down to pick it up, or does they bend over from the waist? Look at their balance and coordination. Tell me what you notice about how your child gets that first toy.
Watch for: Child squats with knees bent to pick up toy from floor while maintaining balance, then stands back up without falling.
- 2~35s
Now your child has a toy! Encourage them to carry it to the box. Watch how they walks while holding the toy — does your child maintain balance? Does they look at the toy or at where they's going? Notice if they switches the toy between hands or holds it securely. Tell me about their walking with that object.
Watch for: Child walks steadily while holding a small toy, maintaining balance and direction without dropping the object.
- 3~40s
Let's make it more exciting! For the next few toys, encourage your child to go a little faster. You might say 'Quick, quick!' or 'Let's run!' Watch carefully — does your child pick up speed? Does their walking turn into a jog or run, even if it's just for a few steps? Look for faster steps, more arm movement, or that joyful running expression. What do you see?
Watch for: Child increases walking speed to a jog or run, showing faster leg movement and potential brief moments where both feet are off the ground.
