Reflex Exploration
Parent uses gentle touch and a feather to explore baby's early reflexes, observing tactile responses and the Babinski reflex. The agent coaches the parent to notice how baby reacts to different touches on the feet and body — building awareness of neurological development and sensory processing through simple exploration.

What you'll need
Baby lying on back on a soft surface, alert and calm. Have a soft feather or light fabric within reach. Room should be comfortable and well-lit for observation.
How it works
- 1~30s
Start by gently caressing your child's arms and legs with your hands. Use slow, soothing strokes and watch their face closely. Does your child seem to notice the touch? You might see them relax, make a little movement, or change expression. Tell me what you notice about how they responds to your gentle touch.
Watch for: Baby shows awareness and positive response to gentle touch — relaxing, changing expression, or moving in response to contact.
- 2~35s
Now take your feather and gently stroke the sole of your child's foot. Use very light, ticklish touches. Watch their toes closely — do they spread out or curl? Also notice your child's overall reaction. Does they pull their foot away, giggle, or show surprise? This helps us see the Babinski reflex and how they processes light touch.
Watch for: Baby demonstrates Babinski reflex — big toe bends back while other toes fan out when sole of foot is stroked.
- 3~40s
Now let's compare responses. Use your finger to firmly stroke your child's foot from heel to toe — different from the feather's light touch. Watch for a different reaction. Also, as we finish, notice their hands — are they coming together or opening briefly? These subtle movements show us how your child's motor system is developing alongside their reflexes.
Watch for: Baby brings hands together toward midline while lying on back, showing developing bilateral coordination.
