To the Finish Line!
Parent sets up a simple 'finish line' with books and runs with child toward it, then adds a ball to practice kicking while running. The agent coaches the parent to observe running coordination, directional control, and kicking accuracy — building leg strength and gross motor coordination through playful movement.

What you'll need
Open outdoor space with grass or soft surface. Two books placed 10-15 feet apart to create 'finish line.' Soft ball nearby. Child wearing comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for running.
How it works

Start by getting your child excited about the game. Say something like 'Ready, set, go!' and run together toward the finish line. Keep your pace slow so your child can stay with you. Watch how they runs — does your child move in a straight line toward the books? Or does they weave or stumble? Notice the coordination between their arms and legs. Tell me what you see.
Watch for: Child runs toward a visible target (finish line) with some directional control, maintaining forward movement.

Now let's add the ball! Place it about halfway to the finish line. Run with your child again, but this time pause at the ball. Show them how to kick it toward the finish line. You might say 'Kick the ball to the books!' Watch carefully — does your child make contact with the ball? Does they use their foot to push it forward, or just swing and miss? Notice which foot they prefers.
Watch for: Child kicks a stationary ball while running, making contact and moving it forward.

Let's do a few more rounds — run, kick, then run to the finish line. This time, watch your child's overall coordination. After they kicks, does they stumble or recover quickly? Does they use their arms for balance? Notice how their limbs work together during this whole sequence of running, kicking, and continuing to run.
