Watch for: Baby repeat sounds or actions to get people to look.
- 2~30s
Great, now let's try the next part. One will be a toy and the other will be something inappropriate that she should not play with. Let your baby observe the objects and wait for her to try to take one of them. Tell me what your child does — any reaction counts!
Watch for: Baby play and has fun with other kids.
- 3~30s
One more thing to try. If your baby picks the toy, reinforce her action by praising her and saying she's right in grabbing the toy. And if your baby tries to take the scissors, do not permit her to do so and emphasize that she should not grab them by placing them out of her reach and shaking her head at the same time. During this exercise, observe if your baby understands what isn't permitted and stops an action you're told to do so. How does your child handle this? What do you see?
