Mini Salmon Patties
Parent involves child in making simple salmon patties, focusing on counting, measuring, and following sequential steps. The agent coaches the parent to observe number recognition, measurement understanding, and task completion as the child participates in a real cooking activity.

What you'll need
Kitchen workspace with ingredients ready: canned salmon (drained), breadcrumbs, egg, mixing bowl, measuring spoons, and a small bowl for patty formation. Child should be able to reach the counter safely or sit at a table. Have a clean workspace and wash hands first.
How it works
- 1~40s
Let's start by counting out our ingredients together. Show your child the salmon and say 'We need one can of salmon.' Then take out the breadcrumbs and ask 'your child, can you help me count three tablespoons?' As you scoop, count together loudly: 'One... two... three!' Watch how your child participates in the counting. Does they say the numbers with you? Does they recognize when you've reached three?
Watch for: Child counts along with parent to three during ingredient measurement.
- 2~35s
Now let's add the egg. Crack it into the bowl together. Then say 'We need to measure one teaspoon of seasoning.' Show your child the measuring spoon and explain that this is one teaspoon. Ask them to help you level it off. Watch how your child handles the measuring. Does they understand that the spoon needs to be full but not overflowing? Does they try to level it or pour carefully?
Watch for: Child shows understanding of measurement concepts by helping level or pour ingredients.
- 3~45s
Now let's mix everything together and form the patties. Give your child clear three-step instructions: 'First, mix all the ingredients. Second, scoop some into your hands. Third, make a little patty.' Watch how your child follows these steps. Does they remember what comes next? Does they complete all three steps in order? Notice if they needs reminders or can follow the sequence independently.
Watch for: Child follows three-step instructions to complete the patty-making process.
