What you'll need

Bedtime environment — dim lights, calm atmosphere. Spray bottle prepared with water and 5-10 drops of lavender oil (diluted). Child should be in pajamas, following normal bedtime routine steps.

How it works

  1. 1~30s

Start by showing your child the spray bottle. Say something like, 'This is our special Sweet Dream Mist — it helps us have cozy dreams.' Let your child hold it if they wants to. Watch how your child reacts to this new element in the routine. Does they seem curious, calm, or maybe a bit unsure? Tell me what you notice.

Watch for: Child participates in a structured bedtime routine by engaging with a new calming ritual.

  2. 2~35s

Now invite your child to help spray the mist. You might say, 'Let's spray some Sweet Dream Mist on your pillow to make it extra cozy.' Guide their hand if needed, or let them try independently. Watch how your child follows this simple instruction. Does they try to spray? Does they wait for your cue or jump right in?

Watch for: Child follows a simple one-step instruction within the context of a calming bedtime ritual.

  3. 3~30s

After spraying, take a moment together to breathe in the lavender scent. Say, 'Mmm, smell the sweet dreams.' Watch your child's body language and facial expression. Does they seem soothed by the ritual? Do you notice deeper breathing, relaxed shoulders, or a calm expression? This is about observing how the sensory experience helps your child transition to a sleepy state.

Watch for: Child shows signs of relaxation or calm in response to a sensory-based bedtime ritual.
