Auditory Perception
Parent hides from baby's view and calls out to them, observing how baby locates the source of the sound by turning their head. The agent guides the parent to notice sound localization, head-turning accuracy, and social engagement when baby finds the parent. This activity builds auditory processing and spatial awareness.

What you'll need
Baby seated with support or lying on back, alert and calm. Parent should be able to move to positions outside baby's direct line of sight. Quiet room is ideal.
How it works
- 1~20s
Step just to one side of your child, out of their view. Now call your child's name in a warm, cheerful voice. Watch closely — does they turn their head toward the sound? How quickly does they locate you? When they finds you, give a big smile and say, 'You found me!' Tell me what happened.
Watch for: Baby turns head toward the source of parent's voice coming from the side.
- 2~20s
Now try the other side. Move to the opposite side of your child and call out again. This tests whether they can locate sounds from both directions equally well. Does your child turn the other way to find you? Is it as quick as before? Tell me what you notice.
Watch for: Baby locates sound from the opposite side, demonstrating bilateral sound localization.
- 3~25s
Let's try one more time from behind your child — just a little off to one side. Call their name and then when they finds you, really celebrate! Watch your child's expression when they sees your face. Does they smile, laugh, or make any happy sounds? That social response is just as important as the sound finding. What do you see?
Watch for: Baby shows positive social response — smiling, laughing, or vocalizing — upon finding the parent.
