Clean-Up Song
Parent sings the clean-up song and the agent coaches the parent to observe toddler's ability to follow simple instructions, put toys in containers, and participate in household routines. Builds practical life skills through joyful tidying.
Opens a guided voice session in TogetherTime.
What you'll need
6-8 toys scattered on floor. One container/basket for collecting. Parent ready to sing and model putting toys away.
How it works
- 1~25s
Sing the song and pick up one toy, placing it in the basket with a big 'In it goes!' Then point to a toy near your child and say 'Can you put that one in?' Watch — does your child pick it up? Does they walk to the basket? Does they put it in? Tell me what happens.
Watch for: Child follows the instruction to pick up a toy and put it in the container.
- 2~30s
Keep singing and see how many toys your child will put away. Count them together as they go in: 'One... two... three...' Does your child keep going or lose interest? Does they need encouragement between each one or get into a rhythm?
Watch for: Child sustains the tidying activity across multiple items, showing developing practical persistence.
- 3~25s
If your child is doing well, try a sorting challenge. Point to two different containers and say 'Books go HERE, toys go THERE.' Can your child sort items into the right places? Even getting one right shows early categorisation.
Watch for: Child sorts items into correct categories during clean-up, showing basic categorisation ability.
