How it works

1. 1

   Let's start by setting up our pretend meal area. Place your child's plate, cup, and utensils on the table. Say, 'It's time to eat!' and pretend to have a meal together. After a minute, say, 'All done! Now let's clean up.'

   Now let's practice wiping the table. Give your child the small cloth or napkin. Say, 'Our table is messy. Can you help wipe it clean?'

3. 3

   Let's practice putting things away. Point to where dishes usually go and say, 'Now let's put everything where it belongs. Can you carry your cup to the kitchen?'

4. 4

   Let's finish with hand washing. Say, 'After cleaning up, we need to wash our hands. Let's pretend to wash at the sink or with our imaginary water.'
