Kitchen Counter Fun
A playful counting game using everyday kitchen items to help children match one number word to one object while counting.
Opens a guided voice session in TogetherTime.
How it works
- 1
Let's start by gathering 5 small kitchen items together. Place them in a row on the table. Ask your child, 'Can you point to each item as we count them together?' Let's count slowly: one... two... three... four... five.
- 2
Now let's mix it up! Move the items into a small group or circle. Ask your child, 'Can you count how many items are in this group?' Remind they to touch each one as they counts.
- 3
Now, let's add a challenge! Take away two items and hide them behind your back. Ask your child, 'How many items are left on the table? Can you count them?'
- 4
For our last turn, let's make it silly! Ask your child to close their eyes while you add one more item. Then say, 'Open your eyes! How many do we have now? Count them to find out!'
