How it works

  1. 1

Let's start by creating our story circle. Find a cozy spot where we can all sit facing each other. I'll pass the 'talking piece' to you first. When you hold it, it's your turn to start our story. You might say something like 'Once upon a time, there was a friendly dragon...' Then pass it to your child.

  2. 2

Now you, start our story with one sentence and pass the talking piece to your child. {Child_name}, when you get the piece, add one thing to our story. It could be about what the dragon eats, where they lives, or who they friends are.

  3. 3

Let's continue our story circle! {Parent_name}, add another part, then pass to your child again. {Child_name}, this time try to listen carefully to what you says and add something that connects. Maybe if you says 'The dragon flew to a rainbow,' you could say what they found there.

  4. 4

Let's do one more round! This time, your child, after you add your part, you get to choose who gets the talking piece next. You can pass it to you or to another family member if someone else is joining us.
