How it works

    Let's start by placing the items on the blanket. Say to your child, 'Look at all these interesting things! What would you like to explore first?'

  2. 2

    Now watch how your child investigates the item. You could ask, 'What do you notice about it? Does it make any sounds?'

  3. 3

    If your child moves to another item, say, 'You found something new! What's different about this one?' If they stays with the same item, say, 'Is there anything else you want to try with that?'

  4. 4

    As the exploration winds down, you might say, 'You discovered so much today! What was your favorite thing to explore?'
