Cozy Bedtime Wind-Down
Parent and child create a calming pre-sleep routine together, focusing on transitioning from screen time to quiet activities, choosing a bedtime story, and practicing relaxation techniques.

What you'll need
Find a cozy spot in your child's bedroom or near their bed. Have a few favorite books nearby and make sure any screens (tablets, phones, TVs) are available to be turned off.
How it works
- 1~30s
Let's start by saying goodbye to screens for the night. Together, help your child turn off any tablets, phones, or computers. You might say, 'Screens are going to sleep now, just like we will soon.' Watch how your child participates in this transition.

Now let's choose a bedtime story. Invite your child to pick one or two books from their shelf. Ask them, 'What makes this a good bedtime book?' or 'What do you think might happen in this story?' Watch how they make their choice and share their thinking.

- 3~60s
Before we read, let's do a calming 'balloon breath' together. Say 'Let's pretend our bellies are balloons. Breathe in slowly through your nose to fill the balloon... and breathe out slowly through your mouth to deflate it.' Do 3-5 breaths together. Watch how your child participates and responds.
