Cozy Bedtime Wind-Down
A gentle, voice-guided activity where parent and child create a calming pre-sleep routine together, focusing on screen-free relaxation, reading preparation, and sleep hygiene habits.
Opens a guided voice session in TogetherTime.
What you'll need
Find a comfortable spot in or near the child's bedroom. Have a few favorite books nearby. Ensure screens (tablets, phones, TVs) are available to be put away.
How it works
- 1~30s
Let's start by saying goodbye to screens for the night. Together, can you and your child power down the tablet or TV and put the phone on silent? Talk about how this helps our brains get calm.
Watch for: Watch how your child participates in turning off and putting away screens.
- 2~30s
Now, let's do a quick 'body check.' Sit or lie down comfortably. Take three slow, deep breaths together. Then, ask your child: 'How does your body feel? Is any part still wiggly or awake, or is it starting to feel calm and heavy?'
Watch for: Watch how the child participates in the breathing and describes their bodily state.
- 3~30s
Time to choose our story. Invite your child to pick one or two books for reading. Encourage them to think about which stories feel calming and cozy for bedtime. You might ask, 'What makes a book a good bedtime book?'
Watch for: Watch the process and reasoning behind the child's book selection.
