What you'll need

Find a flat outdoor space like a sidewalk, driveway, or patio. Bring a small basket/bucket and chalk or stick.

How it works

  1. 1~30s

Great! Let's start our nature treasure hunt. With your child, find 5-7 small, safe natural items like leaves, pinecones, acorns, or smooth stones. Encourage them to look closely and choose different treasures.

Watch for: Watch how your child selects and handles natural items

  2. 2~30s

Now let's make our tossing target. Use the chalk or stick to draw three concentric circles on the ground, like a bullseye. Make the largest circle about 3 feet across. Place your basket about 3-5 feet away as a throwing line.

Watch for: Watch how your child understands distance and positioning during setup

  3. 3~30s

Time for treasure tossing! Show your child how to hold a leaf or pinecone, swing their arm back, step forward with the opposite foot, and toss underhand toward the target. Let them try with each treasure, aiming for the center circle.

Watch for: Watch your child's tossing form: arm swing, step, release, and aim
